How will you contribute?
Are you an experienced architect or designer with a passion heritage architecture ?
We’re looking for a Senior Project Advisor to drive the strategic planning and delivery of the Senate’s most complex and high-profile architecture, construction, and renovation projects as part of the Long-Term Vision and Plan (LTVP) for the Parliamentary Precinct. In this influential role, you will guide projects from initial concept through to occupancy, ensuring alignment with public sector priorities, compliance standards, and long-term organizational goals. You will be responsible for managing functional programming, design, and construction coordination—while assessing strategic options and establishing clear project requirements. As a knowledgeable client representative and subject-matter expert, you will champion the Senate’s interests, ensuring that each project is delivered efficiently, effectively, and with accountability to stakeholders. Prerequisites
Education:
- Accredited degree in architecture, interior design, or a related design field from a recognized post-secondary institution, or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
- Professional accreditation in building design (or willingness to obtain one), asset;
- Project management accreditation, asset.
Experience:
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in architectural project delivery, including project planning, functional programming, design and construction management, and client move-in coordination; Preference will be given to candidates with experience closer to the 7 to 10 year mark;
- Experience overseeing large-scale construction or renovation projects with cross-functional teams, including engineers, architects, interior designers, accommodation specialists, and external consultants;
- Proven ability to interpret and apply relevant building codes, standards, and specialty guidelines in construction and renovation contexts;
- Experience in program planning and delivery, from defining project requirements to implementation and occupancy;
- Demonstrated expertise in project budgeting and scheduling.
Advisory and Stakeholder Engagement:
- Skilled in providing cross-functional expert advice, briefings, and recommendations to senior management on complex accommodation planning and program delivery issues;
- Strong ability to communicate with and advise stakeholders, manage change, and resolve issues that arise during the project lifecycle.
Assets:
- Experience in heritage conservation, construction, renovation, or restoration is an asset;
- Possession or eligibility for professional accreditation in architecture, interior design, or project management is a strong asset.
